The following are specific quotations from some Czech Republic, NATO and EU documents concerning joint security projects:
 
1. The Security Strategy of the Czech Republic was approved by the government in 2003, discussed by the Parliament and taken into account:
  
Article 43 The Security Strategy of the Czech Republic: “Article 43 „With regard to the continuing proliferation of WMD and missile technologies and with regard to the fact that some countries refuse to respect the relevant international commitments, the Government will create conditions to join projects and systems capable of ensuring the protection of the Czech Republic’s territory.”

Article 15 The Security Strategy of the Czech Republic: “…The Czech Republic’s strategic interests include (but are not restricted to): …Reducing the risk of a WMD attack (using missiles or other weapons) against the territory of the Czech Republic…“

Article 30 The Security Strategy of the Czech Republic: “…The Czech Republic urgently needs to find new ways of safeguarding its security in case of an imminent WMD attack using various means of delivery.“

 
2. The Washington Treaty, execution of which gave rise to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in 1949, to which the Czech Republic acceded in 1999 by signing this Treaty, and the Alliance’s Strategic Concept of 1999:
 
Article 3 of the North Atlantic Treaty: “In order more effectively to achieve the objectives of this Treaty, the Parties, separately and jointly, by means of continuous and effective self-help and mutual aid, will maintain and develop their individual and collective capacity to resist armed attack.”

The Alliance’s Strategic Concept, Article 22: “The proliferation of NBC weapons and their means of delivery remains a matter of serious concern… The Alliance recognises that proliferation can occur despite efforts to prevent it and can pose a direct military threat to the Allies’ populations, territory, and forces…”
 
TheAlliance’s Strategic Concept, Article 56: “TheAlliance’s defence posture against the risks and potential threats of the proliferation of NBC weapons and their means of delivery must continue to be improved, including through work on missile defences…”

 
3. The European Union Security Strategy
The European Security Strategy, quotation of passages concerning missile threats in connection with proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD): “…We are entering a new and dangerous period that opens up a possibility of weapons of mass destruction armament race, particularly in the area of Middle East… Proliferation of missile technologies brings another element of instability and can expose Europe to a growing risk.”
